The
Trust, founded in 1950
through the bequest of
Auckland pioneer business
woman, Mrs Marianne Caughey
Smith-Preston, has
established an excellent
reputation for the delivery
of quality individualised
care for over 50 years. Set in 8.5 acres of park
like grounds in Remuera,
Auckland, the Marianne
Caughey Smith-Preston Trust
Board owns and administers a
78 bed hospital, two Rest
Home facilities with
accommodation for 109
residents in single rooms
together with 2 boutique
hospital units with
accommodation for 20
residents and a Stage III
"special care" unit for 20
residents.
Soon after the commissioning
of the first facility,
Upland Home in Upland Road
in 1950, the Board saw the
need to expand to meet
demand for residential
accommodation and from that
time they have endeavoured
to keep abreast with the
care needs of their
clientele, extending their
facilities to offer a
variety of accommodation and
a wide range of care. The
original 50 bed hospital was
opened in 1964, and over the
years extended to 78 beds.
Ventnor
Home was opened in 1972 for
80 residents. In 1987 the
Board responded to the needs
of the frailer and more
dependant residents in the
establishment of
intermediate care on the
lower floor with the
provision of additional
nursing, lounge, dining and
lift facilities.
Early in 1996 a six bed
secure unit was established
in the previous sick bay
area in Ventnor Home to
provide a special secure
environment and meet the
needs for clients
assessed as requiring Stage
III accommodation. This unit
was eventually extended to
20 beds.
The central kitchen was
opened in 1991 and a new
laundry was commissioned in
September 1993. Both
facilities have been
designed and equipped to
provide our clients with a
high quality service.
There are a total of 9
Assisted Living Units on
site. |
